Jacob Conrad - Teacher

Born and raised in Nova Scotia, Jacob finished his minor hockey days playing for his hometown team, South Shore Mustangs. Drafted to the QMJHL in 2009, he then played 3 years for the Gatineau Olympiques before finishing his junior career playing for the Bridgewater Lumberjacks and Amherst Ramblers of the MHL. He earned an athletic scholarship from Nipissing University, playing USPORT hockey for 4 years while earning a Bachelor of Business Administration and Bachelor of Education Degree.

Jacob has been a teacher for 5 years which includes Special Education for 2 years, Physical Education for 2 years and now a teacher for the Wetaskiwin Hockey Academy. Jacob is a Hockey Canada Coach 2, coaching at the U18AAA, U15 Tier 1, U18A Female and now as a coach for the U15 Wetaskiwin Kings.

Jacob has led, organized and volunteered for several hockey and school programs throughout his career. He’s thrilled to bring his knowledge and experience to the Wetaskiwin Hockey Academy.

Nick Schneider - Teacher

Nick Schneider’s hockey journey began in Drayton Valley and later in Leduc, where his passion for the sport flourished. He played five years in the Western Hockey League for the Regina Pats, Medicine Hat Tigers and Calgary Hitmen He earned team awards such as the Community Service, 3 stars and Most Valuable Player awards. He also initiated a Student of the Month program in Medicine Hat.

At 18, he signed with the Calgary Flames, spending five years with their farm teams in Kansas City, Missouri, and Stockton, California. Afterward, he pursued his Education degree at the University of Alberta while playing for the Golden Bears. Today, he enjoys playing for the Wetaskiwin Longhorns, coaching and sharing his passion and knowledge of hockey with students.

Barb Muise - Educational Assistant

Barb grew up playing hockey in a small northern Manitoba community. What started as a hobby, grew into a passion, and has now turned into a career of a lifetime. After watching from afar for a few years, Barb jumped back on the ice with both feet, completing Hockey Canada’s Coach 1 and Coach 2 courses, becoming a certified coach with Hockey Alberta. Barb currently plays for a recreational women’s hockey team during the winter.

Over the last 6 years, Barb’s helped on and off the ice for various teams that her children have played on. During the last 3 years, she’s stepped into the role of Head Coach for the U9 and now U11 Camrose Wildcats. Her U11 Wildcats brought home the league banner for the 2022 - 2023 season! Her favourite part of hockey is building team work, team comradery and skill development throughout the season. Working with kids of all skill levels is rewarding and seeing kids reach their goals is why she loves to coach.

Caeden Stephan - Educational Assistant

Born and raised in Wetaskiwin, Caeden's passion for hockey began early. He played for several Wetaskiwin Minor hockey teams, serving as captain for the U18's. Later he spent 4 years playing with the Wetaskiwin Icemen, 3 as an assistant captain. Currently, he continues to play for his hometown as a member of the Wetaskiwin Longhorns.

Caeden has a diploma in police studies and is pursuing a degree in criminology. However, his long-term goal is to become a teacher! He plans to earn a degree in education and become a teacher for WRPS. He's committed to helping others as he continuously supports students and actively contributes to the school community. Before working for the Wetaskiwin Hockey Academy, he was famous in his role as an educational assistant at Centennial School.
